A warning about user "Phoenix Lord" - Why he should be ip banned
Hello fellow guru users,
Something has come to my attention that I want the guru community to have the chance to see.
There is a new user "Phoenix Lord" who joined October 2013. I have dealt with him in game, and he offered me insultingly low offers on any item I showed him. The worst part was that I wasn't even advertising to sell anything, he came up to me and asked me to show him rare items. My word of advice to you all is: DO NOT SELL HIM ANY OF YOUR ITEMS. He has been trolling the pc threads looking for people that don't know the value of their items to lowball the hell out of them like he did to me in hopes of getting a good bargain from an unsuspecting seller.
Honestly, I think this clown doesn't deserve a place in our guru community. I know many of you in game have dealt with him and agree with me. As such, I am advocating that he get an ip ban from guru so that no one ever has to worry about him again.

I can confirm. He even approached me the same way. Told him twice i'm not selling anything nor do I have the q0-8 shields he is looking for.
IP ban is a little extreme when you think of it. Yeah you may not like this type of person on guru/ingame, but there are still plenty of people out there who actively ''offer low, re-sell high''. Just avoid him. It's like people who post 1e overbids on auctions. I too want to make a post addressing these people but a free bump is a free bump. Not gunna get worked up or even think about that person longer than I have to read his/her post.
Let him do his own thing and you do yours.

In game ignore list
The only problem then is that he will likely scam an unsuspecting person who doesn't know what he's doing.
Not sure how to stop that happening though....
Any mod input for protecting unsuspecting people here in guru please?
Max
Also, if he keeps making non-bid posts he'll get himself banned soon enough. Maybe permanently if he does it enough.

Have encountered many problems with this user too. Usually what happens is, you offer something for a set price, he says he'll buy it (leaving you under the impression that he will buy at said price), but when trading he will put in a ridiculously low price without warning. It's very much like a scam. If you say no, he'll continue begging and keep pestering you, and it becomes really irritating. Worst part is, he's an officer at his guild, vLv.
That said, I don't think GW Guru IP bans users for non-forum related offences, so this is more a warning for others I guess.

If this person tries to scam you in-game, the best thing to do is to report him directly to ArenaNet. We will not IP ban anyone just for posting low offers, but we will continue to infract (which results in suspensions, and eventually a permanent ban) those that break the rules, such as trying to buy in PC.
Closing, because we do not condone witch hunts here on Guru.
